This project involves remaking a master bathroom.  It also will have the entire house roof replaced after the bath work is completed.  The roof is dated and damage needs to be repaired (rot, termites).

Before Bath:  the current floor plan was fine, but it felt closed in.  A few walls were slated to be removed or modified, and all was to be taken back to the studs.  The ceiling was cement-based plaster that had an undesirable texture.  Windows came out as well.

Before shower: soffit was not desired - so it was removed to make it feel more open spaced.   Note first 2 rows of tile were replaced when the pan must have leaked.   House was re-plumbed with copper pipes.  The plaster work outside to cover up the modifications was less than adequate - the stucco paper was not placed back and had various holes in it from demo.

The ceiling heat lamp stayed: the only fixture that we built around.  It actually served as the job lighting and helped cure the drywall mud later on.

Another vanity and window removed - the 2 sink cabs and vanity were removed.

The existing space here would change to allow a central sink area, a pony wall to the left to allow a glass wall for more light into the shower, and a skylight in the shower for more light, as there was no window to the space.

Not Kosher: we don't bury wires in the wall and splice them.  Love to add these shots to our Hall of Shame.

Hot mop done.

Framing: new window, run utilities.   Note interesting use of cardboard to patch stucco - no paper backer to prevent water from getting into the building.

Other vanity wall - removed vanity and capped plumbing lines.  New window installed.

New skylight/fan combo - new design uses fan around the skylight tube to exhaust  moisture.  Only duct is visible here.

Insulation in.  We stuffed anywhere a wall was open - ceiling too.

The niches were added - bright light off to the left is the skylight.

Drywall hung, cement board on.

Shower area ready for tile.

Side area ready for drywall tape and compound.

View of ceiling area.  Ready for taping.

Cement board on.

Drywall topping on.

Floor tile removed (arduous task - old mortar, thinset, and travertine).  It did not come up easy... required grinding and adding leveling compound to fill in and level the floor.

Marble being installed.  Cabinet in.

Other side storage in.  Note mirrored door - on both sides.

In-progress vanity area.

 Reroof:

The old roof had too many layers.  Add to that termite damage and some rot, we repaired the damage, add some lighting, added a lot of insulation, and fixed a standing water issue on a somewhat flat cricket (slightly slope roof area designed to drain water).

During:  roof was striped, added foil faced OSB sheeting throughout, and roofed over that.

 Completed.
